About Laurel

I have been a quilter since the early 90's. My love of quilting began with a love of fabric and a desire to help others. A group of ladies where I worked made tied quilts for the kids at the Salvation Army Children's Shelter. It looked like fun so I joined in. With their guidance, I learned the basics of piecing. I was also given the opportunity to provide many children with much needed comfort and love that only a quilt can bring. My love of quilting continued and so did my knowledge and skills when I took several classes and also joined a local quilt guild.

Over time, quilting became my passion and eventually, a way of life. I owned and operated my own quilt shop called I'd Rather Be Quilting from 2003, right after my youngest daughter was born, to 2008. After closing the shop I continued to quilt in my spare time. In 2010, my husband and I decided to take a leap of faith and I quit my full time job. Being a mom to our 2 girls was more important than bringing home an extra pay check. We put our full faith and trust in God to provide what we needed and it was the best decision we ever made. I opened All About Quilting in September of 2010 to help pay the bills and to still be a full time mom to our girls. My shop hours were around my children's school and activity schedules.

In 2016, I began stocking fabric, patterns, kits, and notions to expand to be a full service quilt shop. Hours were expanded to include Saturdays. In 2017, my inventory expanded so much that I ran out of space.  So in December, I sold my building in Richmond and moved to a much larger space located at 912 Main St. in beautiful, historic Lexington, MO just 10 minutes from my original shop.  I opened on January 13, 2018.  I am so excited to see what the next year will bring.

Quilting is something that I give my whole heart and soul into. I treat every customer quilt as I would treat one of my own.
